Across the country and around the world, birdsong is one of nature’s most familiar joys. The U.S. Postal Service celebrated that everyday beauty with its Songbirds stamp issue, featuring 10 vibrant species known for their color, melody, and springtime presence. Each stamp depicts a different songbird perched on a fence post or branch decorated with seasonal details like vines, pinecones, leaves, or flowers, set against a clean white background for a crisp, gallery-like look. The Songbirds stamps portray: the western meadowlark, mountain bluebird, western tanager, painted bunting, Baltimore oriole, evening grosbeak, scarlet tanager, rose-breasted grosbeak, American goldfinch, and white-throated sparrow.
Songbirds make up a major share of the world’s bird species and are known for their highly developed vocal organs—those bright morning songs are often tied to courtship and territory, a reminder that much of birdsong is driven by the rhythms of spring and life outdoors.
The Songbirds stamps feature artwork by Robert Giusti, with stamp design by Derry Noyes. Originally issued as Forever stamps and sold in booklets of 20, they remain a favorite for everyday mailing and for collectors who love birds and nature-themed postage. Forever stamp value: A Forever stamp always represents the current price of a one-ounce First-Class Mail letter and does not expire, even if postage rates change in the future.
